Salt Lake City Chinatown Has Authentic Dining And Shops

The Asian American community has a long history here in Utah. Many of the original Chinese immigrants who arrived in Utah in the late 1800s were responsible for the completion of the Union Pacific Railroad at Promontory Point. Over the decades, people from Vietnam, Cambodia, South Korea, Taiwan, and other countries have also come to the Beehive State. Today, Asian Americans make valuable contributions to Utah in every area of our society and economy.

While the Beehive State doesn’t have a typical Chinatown where Asian Americans live, there is a place where you can go to soak in some Asian culture and enjoy all kinds of goods and services. Check out Salt Lake City Chinatown.

Welcome to Salt Lake City Chinatown! This huge shopping center covers 5.7 acres and includes over 100,000 square feet of shopping and dining space.

Chinatown is not only here to provide goods and services to the Asian community; it welcomes everyone. The huge archway in the front was created using colors and architecture in the traditional Chinese style.

Chinatown Supermarket is the largest Asian market in all of Utah, and it has pretty much everything you can imagine. You'll find plenty of fresh produce and meats here...

...as well as every kind of imported Asian food you could ever want. If you're not familiar with Asian cuisine, this is a great place to go to find authentic ingredients to prepare your own tasty meals at home.

Sil Lum Kung Fu Kwoon is located here, and it offers traditional methods and values of kung fu, teaching several styles including Tai Chi.

The school's students also perform the traditional Lion Head Dance. It's a big part of the Chinese New Year celebration every February.
