Old Hickory Lake is a manmade reservoir that's located just outside of Nashville, roughly 25 miles upstream via the Cumberland River. It straddles five counties, including Sumner and Davidson Counties, and extends ever outward towards Carthage.
Home to reams of local wildlife, it's a great place for hiking and birding. Over the years, this gorgeous corner of natural beauty has become one of the most popular recreational lakes in the area.

Curious about the lake itself? It was built via the dam, lock, and powerhouse between the years of 1952 to 1954 by the US Corps of Army Engineers, who still supervise the lake's facilities today.
The lake spans over 97.3 river miles and covers 22,500 acres. With 41 access points for boats, it's easy to get out on the lake with your loved ones and go jet skiing or sailing.
There's a handful of parks that surround the lake as well, including but not limited to, Bledsoe Creek State Park, Rockland Recreation Area, Sanders Ferry Park, and the popular Shutes Branch.
