While these gray wolves were native to Colorado, they were extirpated in the 1940s, only to be re-introduced in the surrounding states some decades later. While seeing these wild canines out and about is no longer the norm, at this wolf sanctuary in Colorado, you can get an up-close look at these beautiful creatures.
