Fremont Lake in Wyoming is definitely one of the nicest lakes in the Cowboy State. But what are some other Wyoming lakes to enjoy? Here are some of the best lakes in Wyoming for a relaxing lakeside getaway:

  • Lake Marie: This beautiful mountain lake in Wyoming is set against Schoolhouse Rock and The Diamond, two mountainous areas near Saratoga, WY. It is a relatively shallow lake at around 40 feet, but it is a wonderful fishing lake for brook trout, cutthroat trout, and rainbow trout.
  • Middle Piney Lake: Another wonderful fishing lake (stocked with plenty of trout) set against beautiful mountains. It is located in the Wyoming Range near Afton and Smoot. The camping and hiking around this lake are epic as well.
  • Brooks Lake: This secluded alpine lake in the Shoshone National Forest couldn't be any more picturesque. The Wind River Mountains rise up beyond the lake, making a kayak trip on the calm waters quite magical.
  • Yellowstone Lake: Another deep lake in Wyoming at around 400 feet, this mountain lake is the largest in Wyoming. You just can't beat Yellowstone National Park for its beauty and this lake is a big contributor to that. Follow the Yellowstone Lake Overlook Trail to see incredible views of the lake.
