For a state not quite 200 years old, Minnesota has a surprising number of historic restaurants. Many of the oldest spots popped up when the Twin Cities experienced a population boom in the 1800s. For this reason, most historic restaurants are in the southern part of the state. But there’s a 100-year-old restaurant on the North Shore that is well worth visiting. Read on to learn about Pickwick, its history, and its delicious food:
Pickwick is a popular North Shore restaurant with a long history. Address: 508 E Superior Street, Duluth, MN, 55802.
The restaurant at its current location dates back to 1914, and its 100-plus-year history is clearly evident as soon as you walk in. The dining room is full of dark, cozy wood tones that will take you back.
Some of the art is older than the current location. This piece dates back to 1893. It comes from the old location, which opened in 1888 within Fitger's Brewery Company.
If steak's not your thing, try a sandwich, pasta, or even a burger. Favorites like the turkey club are fantastic options, are are more unusual picks like the Napoleon bacon burger.
No matter what you get, you're bound to love it. The fascinating history and great food at this landmark restaurant make it a must-visit spot in Duluth!
