Robinson Park is a multi-purpose place of gathering for the community of southeastern Illinois that has something for all ages. The best activities are ideal for summer and have all the locals looking forward to the hot months.
Reaching a depth of 12 feet, the municipal pool has been around since the 1950s. There is also a 125-foot water slide and a wading pool. Everyone loves Pelican Cove where a pirate-themed splash pad awaits.
You'll also find sports fields and courts for baseball, softball, t-ball, tennis, soccer, and basketball. Summer programming is offered for baseball, softball, and t-ball for boys and girls.
Illinois' best city park is actually open all year long. In addition to fun activities for kids, it is also host to a nine-hole public golf course on a two-acre lake.
The park also allows camping and has eight pads with water and electric available for up to only three nights only.
There are a plethora of walking paths, playground structures, and picnic shelters to enjoy as well. Nature lovers know that this is one of the best places to go to get a quick dose of the Great Outdoors.
Special events are held here throughout the year, and summer is no exception. While winter brings visits with Santa in Kringle Korner for Christmas, this season means a carnival and fireworks for the Fourth of July.
This is an attraction the whole family will love (even the dog!). General park hours are 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily but be sure to pay attention to details for specific attractions within the park (such as the pool and events).
