Every Marylander Should Witness This Annual Wagon Train At Least Once

Horse-pulled wagons are an important part of the nation’s past, and that includes Maryland as well. Did you know that there’s a reenactment of sorts dedicated to this old method of travel? It’s known as the National Pike Wagon Train. This unique annual event is a must-see, especially for history buffs. Check out the details below:

According to the town of Boonsboro's website, the annual National Pike Wagon Train reenacts "the travel during the 1797 development of the National Pike."

Since 1989, people have gathered with horse-drawn wagons to travel this route from Clear Spring to Boonsboro. The event's slogan is "Travel the Road that Made the Nation."

You can catch a glimpse of the horse-pulled wagons along the way if you live in the area...

...or meet them at the end of the route, at Boonsboro's Shafer Memorial Park.

Here, there will be blacksmith demonstrations, pony rides for kids, and food available to purchase. A fun way to celebrate and learn about Maryland's history.

It's a one-of-a-kind event that must be seen at least once. Just more proof that the Old Line State is fascinating in many ways.
