After college, she chose to trade in her winter boots for slippahs and moved to the beautiful island of Oahu, where she has been living for more than five years. She lives on the west side but is constantly taking mini-road trips across the island and visits the neighboring islands whenever she can getaway. She loves hiking, snorkeling, locally-grown coffee, and finding the best acai bowl on Oahu.
If there’s one thing that comes to mind when thinking of Hawaii, it is the incredible opportunities to partake in water sports of all kinds in the Pacific Ocean surrounding these beautiful islands we call home. And while we absolutely love experiencing the waters surrounding the Hawaiian Islands by day, it’s perhaps even more exciting by night. Once the sun slips below the horizon, discover a different side of the Aloha State on one of the epic tours offered by Nocturnal Adventures Hawaii.
While there are countless activities to enjoy during the day — hiking, swimming, surfing, etc. — that list dwindles after sunset… until Nocturnal Adventures Hawaii was founded and started offering nighttime stand up paddleboarding tours on both Oahu’s north shore and Waikiki Beach.
If you’re on the lookout for a one-of-a-kind adventure that is unique to the Hawaiian Islands, this is it. These tours not only offer guests a stellar vantage point of the island after dark but are as educational as they are entertaining.
Your 90-minute tour will begin just before sunset. As you get comfortable with the water and the sport of stand up paddleboarding, you will experience a signature Hawaiian sunset from Oahu’s famous north shore.
As night falls, you will head up the historic Haleiwa River as these specialized paddleboards illuminate the water beneath you. Keep an eye out for Hawaiian green sea turtles, many of which rest in the calm waters of the bay.
Or, if you’re looking for something a little different, consider a Friday evening tour off Waikiki Beach. Explore the shallow waters and reef that surround the famous Hilton Hawaiian Village at sunset…
This is one excursion the entire family will enjoy. The cost for each 1.5-hour tour is $95 for adults and children aged nine and older. Children eight and younger must share a board with an adult and ride free. Life jackets are required, and this tour is as safe as can be.
Nocturnal Adventures Hawaii offers SUP tours of Haleiwa Bay six nights a week, and once-a-week tours off Waikiki Beach for the Friday night fireworks. For more information, visit their website or follow them on Facebook.
