Ashley has lived in Oklahoma for 30 years and is the Oklahoma staff writer for onlyinyourstate.com. When she isn't writing about Oklahoma, she enjoys visiting the beach and exploring new areas.
If you head to far northwestern Oklahoma to an area known as the “Panhandle” you’ll soon discover Black Mesa State Park. It’s home to the most unique topography in the state and is absolutely gorgeous. If you need to clear your head and get away from city life, take a trip to this park that’s literally in the middle of nowhere to enjoy the most serene place in the Sooner State.
Lucky for us, the Sooner State has many retreats and hidden getaways that are perfect to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. One of my favorite places to go for a relaxing weekend is in southern Oklahoma to the charming resort town of Medicine Park at the base of the Wichita Mountains.
