Guess what, South Dakota? Temperatures are continuing to climb, which means we can now look toward to the future and determine just what it is we want to do in these warmer months, like hiking to this secluded South Dakota waterfall beach that is positively amazing:
Welcome to Cascade Falls, AKA the Old Swimming Hole!
Located 8 miles south of Hot Springs, Cascade Falls has become one of SoDak's most beloved pools, thanks to its warm, 67-degree spring-fed water...
...warm, wet rocks (instead of sand) to lounge upon...
...and, of course, the delicate, yet iconic waterfall that the area is best known for!
What you may not realize is that in addition to the falls and "Old Swimming Hole," there is a short and sweet trail that connects the parking lot with the water and nearby picnic/rest area, which is the perfect way to begin your outdoor adventure!
Please note: There is poison ivy along the banks of Cascade Falls and rattlesnakes along the trail (though rare, as the area is heavily trafficked), so exercise caution when visiting the area.
Who needs uncomfortable sand and grueling trails when you can have THIS?!
Cascade Falls is located 8 miles south of Hot Springs on Highway 71.
