If you’re looking for dining with incredible views, you certainly have plenty of restaurants to choose from in Alaska. After all, the entire state is scenic! There’s a tiny island restaurant that’s been garnering national recognition lately, and you’ll definitely want to pay it a visit. Check out The Saltry Restaurant:
Please note, The Saltry Restaurant is a summertime, seasonal restaurant.
The Saltry Restaurant opened back in 1984, and it's been serving up the most delicious seafood ever since. Located in Halibut Cove, this little gem is tucked away in the wilderness...but it sure is getting a lot of press lately.
You'll find The Saltry at 1 West Ishmailof, Halibut Cove, AK 99603.
The restaurant has been featured in the New York Times, on CBS, and in Bon Appétit Magazine, just to name a few. It was also recently applauded for its excellent salmon on USA Today. What's all the fuss about? Fresh, creative dishes served up in a stunning setting.
The lunch and dinner menus are small, but every item is perfectly prepared. Enjoy salmon, halibut, black cod, octopus, pork, or risotto for dinner. Each dish is full of flavor, and served up in generous portions.
You'll be treated to a delightful tour that includes viewing nine different species of nesting birds on Gull Island, and a tour of Kachemak Bay, where you might see whales, seals, and sea otters. You'll spend three hours exploring Halibut Cove, and can grab a meal at The Saltry before returning to Homer at 4 p.m.
