Over the course of history, the village of Cooperstown has become the country’s mecca for baseball. Home to the National Baseball Hall of Fame, each year thousands of people from all over America swarm to this area of Central New York to dive into all things baseball. The hall of fame and museum may be the star attraction of the area, but what some fanatics may not realize is that if you head just 15-minutes west, you can visit an actual factory where they make baseball bats! Ready to get a look behind the curtain? Then see what’s in store with a visit to this charming attraction.
Just outside the village in the small town of Hartwick, it's here on County Road that you'll find the Cooperstown Bat Company Factory.
A fascinating fact? All the wood that the baseball bats are made out of come from local farms and areas that surround Cooperstown, helping to create roughly 30,000 bats each year.
Some of the bats that you'll see made before you will end up as gifts or souvenirs for baseball fans, while other bats will go on to be used in the Major Leagues by some of your favorite players.
If you don't have time to swing by the factory, then you should also know that there's a Cooperstown Bat Company shop right on Main Street in Cooperstown! So whether you tour the factory to see how these bats are made or you stop into the store to see what marvelous creations have come from the factory, you're always bound to have a memorable time with the Cooperstown Bat Company.
Cooperstown Bat Company Factory is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., while closed on Saturday and Sunday. If you plan to tour the factory with a group of 10 people or more, call 888-547-2415 in advance. To find out more information, click here.
