Do you still dream of marrying Rob Lowe, joining The Breakfast Club, and being BFFs with Molly Ringwald? If you answered yes to any (or all) of the above, you are obviously a child of the 1980s… and you’re going to love visiting these seven places around Colorado that will transport you back to this gnarly decade.
1. Indiana Jones Bed & Breakfast (Antonito)
When it comes to iconic 80s film franchises, there are none quite like the legacy of Dr. Indiana Jones; an archeologist who wound up on adventures that could only come from the minds of Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. Lucky for us, we can re-live these adventures, as the actual childhood home of Indie is right here in Antonito and has been converted into a bed and breakfast complete with three rooms, the entire Indiana Jones film collection, and complimentary breakfast.
2. Fifty Two 80's (Denver)
The raddest store in Colorado is, like, Fifty Two 80's. Why? This righteous store is practically a shrine to the greatest decade and houses such retro nostalgia as life-size cutouts of Hulk Hogan and Elvira, ET action figures, and Peewee Herman dolls.
3. Totally 80's Pizza (Fort Collins)
It's a pizza joint. It's a legit 80s museum. It's Totally 80's Pizza! Located in FoCo, Totally 80's guarantees a tubular time complete with not only delicious pizza, but a life-size Han Solo in Carbonite, old-school posters, GI Joe figures, and more.
4. 80's Fest Colorado (Johnstown)
An 80’s Rock vs. Pop 5K Run/Walk, Battle of the 80's Bands, AND Jane Fonda yoga? No, you haven't taken a time-traveling ride in a DeLorean; you're at the 80's Fest Colorado! Plans for the 2019 event are underway and the official dates and times have yet to be released, so keep an eye on the festival’s
website for updates.
5. Wax Trax Records (Denver)
While 8-tracks and cassette tapes are certainly a thing of the past, there is nothing quite like listening to Queen or AC/DC on vinyl - which is exactly what Wax Trax specializes in! Serving the community for more than 40 years, Wax Trax is home to thousands of your favorite singers and bands, as well as posters, buttons, and books.
6. Laser Stranger Things (Boulder)
In this day and age, there is nothing more 80's than Stranger Things , so what could be better than combining this Netflix hit with lasers and 80's music? That is exactly what you will find at Laser Stranger Things, which takes place at CU's Fiske Planetarium and combines colorful lights with lively tunes.
7. 80's Retro Weekend (Winter Park)
This upcoming event is a must for any 80s kid! Make your way to Winter Park on April 20, 2019 for 80’s Retro Weekend, which will feature the totally righteous music of The Goonies - Denver’s favorite 80’s rock cover band. In addition to the tunes, the festival will also have retro 80’s arcade games, a "Sweatin’ to the Oldies" workout, and even a costume contest. Say no more - we are THERE.
