Spring is one of Ohio’s most vivid seasons, and locals can’t get enough of it. Although Cleveland is a splendid place to explore, the surrounding communities hide many springtime surprises. There truly isn’t a more magical season to take a road trip in, especially if you have kids who are enjoying spring break. Pack a few snacks and get ready to hit the road, because this is one road trip you’ll never forget.
This historic 52-room home is located in Granville, just over two hours from Cleveland. It’s well worth the drive and is the perfect distance for a day trip or weekend getaway. The Italianate Villa-style mansion attracts visitors from all around the state, immersing them in a history that dates back to 1865.
The home has passed through several owners over the years and has hosted some extravagant guests throughout that time.
John Sutphin Jones acquired the property in 1905, and he entertained quite a few interesting guests. Calvin Coolidge, William Howard Taft, and Warren G. Harding all stopped by for dinner at some point, and silent film star Lillian Gish's visit has given it a Hollywood connection as well.
