A winery is one of the last things that come to mind when people think of Alabama. Whether or not you’re one of these people, the truth of the matter is the Yellowhammer State is home to several amazing wineries, including Jules J. Berta Vineyards. To learn all about this popular winery, including why you should visit, take a look below.
Jules J. Berta Vineyards, which opened for business in 2008, is located atop Sand Mountain in Albertville, Alabama. It was recently named Alabama's "Winery of the Year" for the second year in a row.
Because this family-owned winery has an elevation of more than 1,100 feet, it was the first winery in Alabama able to grow Vitis vinifera wine grapes.
At Jules J. Berta Vineyards, the grapes are all hand picked and carefully pressed.
This winery offers more than 20 delicious wines, which consist of traditional whites, traditional reds, mighty muscadines, and several fruity blends. Its award-winning "Dog at Large" blackberry Merlot is a customer favorite.
When it comes time to sit and enjoy your wine, Jules J. Berta Vineyards has a lovely vine-covered trellis. This is a great spot to sit and relax, especially during the warmer months.
If you happen to visit on a Friday or Saturday, you'll have a chance to try one of the winery's delicious wood-fired pizzas, which are available in a variety of flavors.
If you're a fan of Jule J. Berta Vineyards' amazing wines, you'll absolutely love its refreshing wine slushies. These frozen drinks are also served on Fridays and Saturdays.
Before leaving Jules J. Berta Vineyards, don't forget to stop by the gift shop. From bottles of wine to quirky decor, you're sure to find the perfect gift for the wine lover in your life.
