There’s certainly no shortage of scary stories and terrifying tales here in Maine. And there’s no denying that Maine just might be one of the most haunted states in the country. From ghosts that occupy old lighthouses to the ones that roam the rural roads at night, there’s an apparition for everyone! In the state that’s responsible for Stephen King, we like to make sure we’re sharing as many as these stories as we can. So, today we bring you the tale of this bridge in Millinocket.

But, not far away is a bridge with its own special following.

Located just outside of town is Route 11 on Brownville Road.

And this is where our ghost story takes place. Legend has it that a woman known as the "White Lady of Millinocket" roams the bridge after a mysterious accident taking place in the 1950s.

Except she HAS been seen again. Locals have reported seeing and hearing her cross the bridge at night and even seeing her handprints on their car during misty nights.

Some say that the wreckage of the car can still be seen along parts of Brownville Road, which is unpaved and a bit rocky. But, while ghost hunters have explored the area there's no definitive word on whether or not this screaming bridge is truly haunted by the ghost of this white lady.
