It’s a brand new year, and we’re planning all of the fun things we’ll do and see in Nebraska in 2019. Discovering new restaurants is a big part of exploring our state, and there are plenty of them out there to find. Check out our baker’s dozen of fun, exciting, classic, and innovative restaurants to try out this year, all of which we’ve featured here in the past year.
1. Screamers Dining & Cabaret, Lincoln
This curiously-named venue offers up gourmet food and outstanding entertainment in a totally delightful setting. The restaurant's own staff takes the stage to perform for patrons, providing a unique experience that you won't soon forget.

If you're looking for some of the most massive burgers Nebraska has to offer, you've found them. This humble little spot is a local favorite for good reason - and plenty of folks come from far and wide just to eat here.

3. Country Cafe, Niobrara
This delightful little gem is out on a country road in a sparsely-populated area, so not many people come by it accidentally. Find your way there and you'll be thrilled at the down-home meals that will fill you up and fuel you up for all kinds of adventures.

4. Village Barn, Harrison
This itty-bitty A-frame building may not look like much from the outside, but inside awaits a truly unique dining experience. The cuisine here is an intriguing blend of Thai, Mexican, and American, and you'll be amazed at how well they do it all. The restaurant is closed this January, but will be back up and running in February 2019.

5. Brother Sebastian's, Omaha
This memorable monastery-themed steakhouse has been a beloved destination since 1977. It's far more charming than you might expect, and it's the perfect destination for a romantic night out.

6. The Chocolate Bar, Grand Island
This trendy upscale eatery is named for everyone's favorite sweet treat, but it also serves some seriously delicious savory dishes. Stop in for a whole meal or for dessert - either way, you'll leave with a very happy tummy.

This out-of-the-way steakhouse may be small, but it's full of incredible flavors. Be sure to try the steak nachos for a particularly delicious treat. It won't take long to understand why people drive in from miles and miles away to experience the food at this little restaurant.

It may sound strange, but the Indian food you'll find at this gas station in Lincoln is some of the best you'll ever taste. It's absolutely incredible, whether Indian food is your native cuisine or it's all brand new to you.

10. B&B Hot Dogs, Bellevue
Try out a huge variety of hot dogs and toppings, including a five-pound belly-busting whopper, at this classic hot dog shop in Bellevue. There's an arcade here to keep the kids occupied before and after the meal, too!

Pull over at this truck stop and enjoy some home-cooked goodness just like Grandma used to make. Don't pass up the chance to try the hot beef sandwich - it's among the best in the state!

This classic neighborhood restaurant has been going strong for a century now. The pizza is legendary and the deli counter is stocked with incredible fresh foods. If you haven't visited yet, make it a priority this year!

Tucked away into little Burwell is a world-class eatery run by two St. Paul natives. The sisters saw a need for healthy upscale foods in small-town Nebraska, and so the Sandstone Grill was born. It's going on its 14th year in business, so you know it's got to be good.
