They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Well, we have no idea who they are, or where they get their information, but we have to agree that there’s nothing like a delicious, hearty breakfast to make you smile first thing in the morning. This iconic Oregon restaurant in Salem serves up one of the best breakfasts in America, and you’re going to want to try it.
White's Restaurant is a Salem icon. It opened in 1936, and it's been serving the most delicious, hearty breakfast in the Beaver State ever since.
Find White's Restaurant at 1138 Commercial St. SE, Salem, OR 97302.
White's recently remodeled its dining room, so you'll find brand new furnishings inside this little gem. It's a fresh, new look for an old-school diner.
The Big Mess is the specialty of the house, and it's absolutely divine. It comes complete with crispy hashbrowns, bacon, ham, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes, and bell peppers. Then the whole thing is smothered in country gravy and topped with two eggs. Oh, and in case you're still hungry, it's also served with toast, a biscuit, or an English muffin.
While The Big Mess is the go-to meal on the menu, you really can't go wrong with any of the breakfast items. We highly recommend the chicken fried steak if you want a meal that will stick to your ribs.
Visit White's Restaurant for breakfast or lunch seven days a week. It's open Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.. On Sunday, they like to sleep in a bit, and they open the doors at 8 a.m..
