Every Idahoan knows that winter is one of our best seasons. It’s during this time of year that our entire state boasts gorgeous scenery and plenty of opportunity for adventure. It only makes sense that winter enthusiasts fall in love with the Gem State at the first sign of snow! However, there’s one town in particular that really shines during the winter season. Island Park is a tiny eastern Idaho town that people flock to as soon as the snow begins to fall. Keep reading to see why this little town is considered our state’s top winter wonderland.
Eastern Idaho may be primarily known as "The Gateway To Yellowstone", but this region of the state actually has a lot to offer itself. Island Park is a small town tucked away in the eastern corner of the state and it's a winter paradise that everybody should see at least once.
As winter approaches, Island Park turns into a snowy wonderland that best resembles a scene straight out of a snowglobe. Simply put, this little town really shines when it's all covered in snow!

Island Park boasts over 500 miles of groomed snowmobile trails, all of them boasting breathtaking scenery of the surrounding region. If you don't own a snowmobile, you can find one at any of the numerous Island Park snowmobile rental companies.
This is by far one of the least restricted areas in all of Idaho, and that's saying a lot!
On top of the once-in-a-lifetime views, Island Park also boasts plenty of small-town charm. With a population of just 286, this is a tight-knit community that welcomes fellow Idahoans with open arms. Island Park's famous WinterFest is the perfect opportunity to experience this humble town for yourself.
Maybe you're the type of person who prefers to sit back and relax. Island Park is home to plenty of beautiful resorts, such as The Pines, which provide elegant lodging opportunities amid the beautiful landscapes.
Island Park has a little bit of something for everyone. Recreation is abundant with plenty of space for snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and downhill skiing. Alternatively, the small town atmosphere is perfect for your next relaxing getaway. Island Park may be small, but it's certainly worthy of a visit.
