First things first: I come from a long line of Germans and married a man who comes from a long line of Germans, so I consider myself to be somewhat of a German food connoisseur. That said, whenever anyone asks me where to find the best German food in Colorado, I point them in the direction of this fabulous restaurant that just so happens to serve amazing, gigantic pretzels:
Welcome to the Rhein Haus, which specializes in "Bocce, Bier, Brats" and serves some of the best German food you’ll find stateside.
Located in Denver's trendy LoDo neighborhood, Rhein Haus is a Bavarian-inspired gem that boasts a comfortable dining room...
...four indoor bocce courts...
...and a drink menu unlike any place outside of, well, Germany!
But onto the good stuff: the food! If you have never had authentic German food (and even if you have), you are in for a treat, as Rhein Haus serves such staples as bratwursts, kielbasa, and other types of sausage...
...schnitzel, spatzle, and Flammkuchen...
...and the reason you popped open this article in the first place: pretzels the size of a small child.
Pictured is the aptly-named Giant Pretzel, which is delicious enough on its own but is served alongside four incredible house-made sauces.
Rhein Haus is located at 1415 Market St. in Denver and is open Monday through Thursday from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., Fridays from 3 p.m. to 12 a.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. For more information, visit the Rhein Haus website
