Gathering with a group of friends and family to serenade others with Christmas carols is a treasured tradition during the holiday season. Unfortunately, this tradition seems to be fading away over the years, but thankfully, you can still experience it in Cincinnati. This year, join together at Washington Park and in Over-the-Rhine for UnSilent Night, an amazing caroling event in the city that will definitely put you in the holiday spirit.
Washington Park is a scenic spot in Cincinnati all year long, but it truly illuminates during the holidays. The park hosts a number of events throughout the season, and one you won't want to miss is UnSilent Night on Friday, November 30th.
The evening kicks off at 5 p.m. at The Porch at Washington Park with drinks and crafts to make the caroling event even more festive. Bring the entire family and enjoy a fun-filled night of singing.
At 6 p.m., everyone will gather at the gazebo to start caroling. This is not your typical group carol singing, as you'll want to bring along your cell phone or even wireless speakers to add to the experience.
The Contemporary Arts Center is one of the hosts of this event, so you can expect a modern twist on the classic caroling experience. You'll recognize the songs, but the way they are performed is very unique.
In UnSilent Night, a parade of boomboxes and wireless speakers, each blasting one of four tracks, will create a "swirling blizzard of sound" through the streets of Over-the-Rhine. It's an appropriate location for this event, as the neighborhood is also a beautiful mix of classic and modern.
After about 45 minutes of caroling, everyone will head back to the park for more drinks and fun. If you are unable to make it this unique event, there’s still plenty of cheerful festivities taking place at the park, such as a memorable City Flea on December 15th (shown below).
Washington Park hosts other events this month, including Santa's Workshop with visits with the big guy in red and other activities. Keep an eye on the park's event calendar on its website (linked below) for all of the details.
Washington Park has become a beloved hub in our city, so it's no wonder it plays host to a number of festive holiday events. One of the most exciting will surely be UnSilent Night; an unforgettable caroling event in the Queen City.
