Since the snow has begun to fall and temperatures have continued to drop, we can’t help but begin to think about all of the fun and exciting activities and events that we want to experience during this time of year. One of our favorite ways to get outdoors is to hit the rink, and there are quite a few places where you can go ice skating here in Buffalo. Out of all the ice skating destinations around the city, there’s one that we have a sweet spot for. We can’t wait for this year’s Downtown tree lighting ceremony and kick off the skating season!
Main Street becomes absolutely magical around the holidays, and it all kicks off with Buffalo's Downtown Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration.
We're anxiously awaiting the event, as it also marks the official beginning of ice skating season at Rotary Rink! Luckily for us, it's just around the corner.
Lacing up your skates for a graceful (or not-so-graceful) spin around Rotary Rink in Fountain Square is such an exciting way to jump right into the winter fun, and it's a great when you're looking for a festive activity that won't break the bank. Skating is free if you bring your own skates and only $3 for adults and $2 for kids if you need to rent a pair!
The Tree Lighting Celebration is also free and open to the public. The fun doesn't stop when the lights turn on - you'll also find tons of festive activities in the plaza and along Main Street.
This is a great family event in Buffalo. Your kids will enjoy the amusement rides, face painting, balloon art, and even get the chance to go meet Santa between 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rotary Rink.
This year’s Tree Lighting Celebration takes place on Saturday, December 1st. Bring the whole family along to the place for a night of fun and a dazzling display of festive lights!
