This sprawling marketplace stretches across Blackstone Street, North Street, and Hanover Street in Boston and is the perfect place to grab mouthwatering produce at prices that will drop your jaw. Grocers here sell everything from fruits and vegetables to local cheese, fish, eggs, and sausages from wooden carts and stalls. You an even find exotic spices, live chickens, and speciality honey at extremely low prices.

Haymarket got its name back in the 1830s when farmers from around the area would bring wagons full of hay into the city to feed Boston’s horses and allow its residents to stuff their mattresses. Irish immigrants began selling produce at the market around the 1850s, and the rest is history.

You can find Haymarket at Blackstone Street in Boston, and along North Street between Clinton Street and Blackstone, and Hanover Street between Blackstone and Union Street.

It’s open every week of the year on Saturdays and Fridays except for Christmas and New Year. There are no official hours, but most vendors set up around 6 a.m. and leave about 6 p.m.
