This Backroad Louisiana Sandwich Shop Is Making Fabulous Po’Boys

This particular hidden gem fits the bill, and it’s one of the reasons that locals have been coming here for over 40 years. It’s absolutely worth the road trip, so gas up the car and head over to this delightful little sandwich shop for one of the best po’boys you’ve ever had.

The building dates back to 1902, when J. Gustave St. Julien built it for his son and daughter who ran the business as a drug store. The building has seen many owners over the years and has been a post office, grocery store, warehouse, and even a dancing school during its lifetime.

Eventually, the name was changed to BJ’s. In 1995, Glenn Murphree bought the restaurant and turned it into a po’boy shop, keeping the iconic name that locals had grown accustomed to.
