A good business person looks at the community they wish to serve and identifies a need and desire that’s not currently being fulfilled. They also take the time to perfect their craft. These are the exact steps the owners of The Bagelry in OTR followed before recently opening their brick and mortar location. They were obviously spot on with their dream of opening a bagel shop in this Cincinnati neighborhood because their homemade bagels have been literally flying off the shelves. This new bagel shop in Cincinnati is so good they keep selling out, but thankfully they now seem to have plenty to go around.
The Bagelry is a brand new bagel shop at the corner of Walnut and 14th in Over-the-Rhine. Of course, many new eateries and shops have been popping up in this neighborhood for years now, but there was a great excitement and anticipation when the area added a tasty bagel store to its already delicious list of options.
The family that runs The Bagelry actually worked very hard before opening the shop to create what they consider to be the perfect bagel. They first sold their creations at farmer's markets and pop-up shops in the city, and then the time was right (and the neighborhood's taste buds were ready), opened a brick and mortar shop.
The perfect bagels made at The Bagelry are thanks to simple, homemade methods, and lots of time and patience. The ingredients used in the bagels are carefully selected and the rising, rolling, and boiling techniques all make for what may just be the best bagel you'll every try.
When The Bagelry shop opened just a few weeks ago, people flocked for their flavorful bagels and sandwiches. So much so that there were several days when they sold out completely by afternoon and they were advising visitors to come as early as possible.
It seems that The Bagelry has found its stride now and you can feel pretty good about being able to get what you want when they're open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. As with most businesses in OTR, the bagel shop has a cool, historic exterior with a modern yet vintage vibe on the inside and the delicious smells are the best part of a visit (aside from the actual bagels, of course.)
There's a surprising amount of variety on the menu at The Bagelry, from traditional bagel flavors to more unique. You can get them plain, with a spread, as a sandwich, and they also serve chips and a yummy salad that can turn your bagel into a meal for lunch. They even have Vegan options in both their bagels and spreads.
The breakfast sandwiches are a great way to try the bagels, and you can create your own. Add egg, cheese, and your choice of meat to any of the bagels, and yes, that is goetta on the sandwich shown below!
The Bagelry was obviously a needed and welcomed addition to Over-the-Rhine and the Cincinnati food scene. The texture and flavor of their bagels are unlike anything else and once you try one, you'll see why these are so loved already that they keep selling out.
The Bagelry in Over-the-Rhine is the perfect little spot for breakfast or lunch that serves a flavorful and delicious bagel and has already become a quaint gathering place in this charming area of Cincinnati.
