1. You take the time to know more about the people around you.
When I was growing up, we always gave cookies (usually peppernuts) to our neighbors, teachers, mailperson, and other people we appreciated. Sometimes, it's the small things that count the most. Plus, peppernuts are great, and should be shared with everyone.

3. You stop and stare for a while when the sun is setting here.
If you're in a line at the grocery store or visiting a small town, don't be surprised if someone strikes up conversation about where you're from, where you've been, or your family. It's just how things work around here!
We all know the dangers of tornadoes, but between the storm chasers and those of us who always seem to avoid them, most aren't too scary. As long as they stay out away from town, that is.
