A Third Of Passengers Say They Would Make This Scary Mistake During A Plane Evacuation
Would you risk the safety of your family and fellow travelers to save your carry-on? Troublingly, a whopping 35 percent of airline passengers said that during an emergency, they wouldn’t leave the plane without their stuff.
A new passenger survey conducted by ComRed for the Royal Aeronautical Society found that in the event of an emergency evacuation, just 61 percent of flyers would take nothing but the items in their pockets. A full 23 percent would take valuables “within easy reach” and 6 percent said they would take all of their valuables with them.
A startling 75 percent of passengers said they would take some of their belongings with them if they didn’t see that the situation was immediately threatening.
We don’t have to remind you that taking possessions with you during an emergency evacuation is prohibited and can mean the difference between life and death for both you and those around you. Evacuating with your stuff can also damage the emergency inflatable slides on an aircraft and slow the process of getting everyone off safely.
