It’s hard to believe fall is just a few short weeks away. It’s my favorite season of the year in the Sooner State – the weather is beautiful, the colors are extraordinary, and it’s football season! This year, the colors are going to be as bold and beautiful as ever. Take a look below to see when your part of the state will showcase its fall colors in peak season.
Oklahoma is fortunate enough to experience a true fall, where our foliage turns gorgeous hues of red, orange, and yellow. It's never an exact science of when these colors will be at their boldest, but we found some predictions to share with you.
Smokymountains.com has come up with a prediction of when our fall foliage will be at its finest. Below is what it will look like around mid-October. As you can see, not much is happening yet.
Fast foward to the end of October and the western portion of the state is starting to see a change of scenery. The panhandle is in peak season and perfect for viewing fall foliage.
However, the southern and eastern sections of the state have more foliage, so the changing of the seasons is much more prominent in these areas. The map below shows the prediction for November 5. Most of the state is near peak, while the western side is still in its peak.
If you live in an area with color-changing trees, it will be quite magnificent in mid-November. Get your camera ready because the colors are going to be bright and bold.
Every season has its own special characteristics, but it's hard to get much better than these colors! Plan on traveling around the state and viewing many of the heavily treed areas in mid-November for the best foliage show of the year.
If there’s one place to see fall foliage in Oklahoma, it’s the Talimena Scenic Byway in southern Oklahoma. Click here to get all the details on this drive.
