The 2018 Fall Foliage In Buffalo Is Predicted To Be Bright And Bold

When it comes to weather in Buffalo (and all of Western New York), you’ll often hear people talking about how intense and historic our winters tend to be. We’re here to remind you about one of our other noteworthy seasons: autumn. 2018 is expected to give us a gorgeous fall season that’ll cover the city and surrounding areas with wondrous colors.

As a result of long, hot, and dry days, Buffalo experienced a foliage season that came early and left the city covered in dull colors last fall. This year? Things are expected to be quite different.

Smoky Mountains puts together an annual foliage prediction and interactive map, and the 2018 season has us feeling hopeful with what they think is to come for Buffalo this fall.

Thanks to lots of rain, cooler temperatures at night, and the days growing shorter, Buffalo's foliage will reach its peak at least one week later than last year, resulting in brighter colored leaves and amazing scenery.

With trees expected to start turning as early as September 24th, Buffalo will reach its full peak on October 8th this year, with areas just south of the city reaching their peak a week later.

With nearly a month to prepare before our foliage hits its full peak, you'll want to start planning your scenic leaf-peeping drives and outdoor adventures now before you're left scrambling at the last minute!
