Ready for adventure? Welcome to one of the few mountain-located state parks in South Carolina where the goal isn’t making a fast trek to the top of the highest point in order to see for tens of miles. (Although we love those parks, too!) Located in the bottom of a canyon, Jones Gap State Park doles out unparalleled scenic views from the bottom (and sides) of this mountain oasis.
Whatever you fancy most about it, this canyon park just may be the most unique state park in the system. Have you discovered all the goodness found at Jones Gap State Park yet?
Jones Gap State Park is located at 303 Jones Gap Rd., Marietta, SC 29661. It has more than 60 miles of trails, 18 primitive, back country hike-in campsites, and four waterfalls or cascades. The park is open year-round and admission is $5 adults; $3.25 SC seniors (age 65 & older); $3 children ages 6-15; ages 5 and under, free. Park hours are: Monday -Sunday 9 a.m. – 9 p.m., during daylight savings time, and 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., the remainder of the year. Trails close one hour before dark, year round. Parking is limited, so it’s recommended you arrive very early in order to get a spot. Once the lot is full, you’ll be directed to another state park in the area.
