With more than 10 years of experience as a professional writer, Megan holds a degree in Mass Media from her home state of Minnesota. After college, she chose to trade in her winter boots for slippahs and moved to the beautiful island of Oahu, where she has been living for more than five years. She lives on the west side but is constantly taking mini-road trips across the island and visits the neighboring islands whenever she can getaway. She loves hiking, snorkeling, locally-grown coffee, and finding the best acai bowl on Oahu.
Many people who aren’t from Hawaii are surprised to learn that our beautiful islands are, in fact, hugely agricultural. From sprawling coffee and macadamia nut farms to massive cattle ranches, the Aloha State is home to countless agricultural ventures. While each of these farms is incredible in its own way, there is only one farm we know of that is home to goats, chickens, bees, and plenty of produce.
The Kauai Kunana Dairy Farm is located at 4552 Kapuna Rd., Kilauea, HI 96754, and is open for tours every Wednesday. If you want to learn more, you can visit their website or follow them on Facebook. Some of their products are available on their website, but the best way to snag their fresh, local products is by visiting them at four local farmers markets: on Tuesdays from 1:30 to 4 p.m. in Kilauea, or on Saturdays in Kilauea (9 a.m. to 12 p.m.), Hanalei (9 a.m. to 12 p.m.), and Kauai Community College (9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.).
