Let’s face it. Truck stops don’t exactly have the best reputations. They are usually considered a place where you can stop for a brief bathroom break and possibly a snack. However, Idaho is home to one incredible truck stop that puts all others to shame. This place is way more than a pit stop. You could actually spend hours exploring everything this place has to offer. Boasting some seriously delicious eats at their restaurant, a massive gift store, deli counter, and even a wine cellar, this place truly has it all. The next time you find yourself on a road trip, you might just find yourself going out of your way to stop here.
Hiding off of Highway 20 just outside of Boise is a seriously epic truck stop unlike any other you've ever seen. The Boise Stage Shop is much more than a place to grab a quick bite to eat. It's a one-of-a-kind experience that you'll definitely want to take advantage of.
The Boise Stage Shop is actually considered one of the oldest businesses in Idaho. It all started in 1891. Back then it was known as "The Regina Store" and it was owned and operated by the local postmaster, Joseph Boyle. It was customary during this time for mail to be distributed through stores like this one.
This place is a truck driver's paradise, but you don't have to be one to appreciate all that Boise Stage Shop provides. Inside the truck stop you'll find a full-on restaurant which serves up some of the tastiest food you've ever had on the side of the highway.
They are open from 5:00 am to midnight every single day and you'll find any dish you could possibly imagine on the menu. There's truly nothing better than a big, hearty breakfast after a long drive and you'll find plenty of classic, made-to-order dishes to choose from.
The restaurant offers every type of food from flavorful Mexican to hand-made pizzas. However, they are particularly known for their steaks and it's easy to see why. They feature a variety of cuts of steak for both breakfast and dinner.
Be sure to take some time to explore everything the truck stop has to offer after your meal. This place is much more than a roadside restaurant. Here you'll find a massive gift shop (open 24 hours), a theater room, a deli counter, and even a wine cellar.
Walk around the property and you might just stumble upon their seasonal garden. This is definitely an unexpected surprise!
They even have what's called an "Aeroponics Garden". In this type of garden, no soil is used to grow the plants. Instead, the roots of the plants are suspended in the air and occasionally sprayed with a nutrient-rich solution.
If you have pets, you'll find that the Stage Shop provides specific areas for them to hang out and stretch their legs as well. Let your dog loose in their free-to-use dog runs while you enjoy a meal.
Heck, they even provide horse corrals for your giant four-legged-friends! The Stage Shop truly has everything you could ever need to relax and fuel up before you hit the road again.
