Since 1987, the Richmond Rose Garden has been a summer oasis of nature and beauty. Though the roses are only around when in season, the area is open every day of the year from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Due to the amount of rose growers in the community in the 1970s, Richmond named itself the "Rose City," and this stunning garden was designed to be a testament of that heritage.
This amazing summer rose garden is actually two in one. In addition to the original E. G. Hill Memorial Rose Garden, named after one of the first rose businesses in Richmond, there is also the Richmond-Friendship Garden.
The Friendship garden symbolizes Richmond's connection to the city of Zweibruken in Germany. The garden is, therefore, filled with a variety of German roses.
Due to the spectacular displays found at this summer rose garden, it is one of the All American Rose Selection Board's (AARS) All American Rose Displays.
Exciting events also take place at the Richmond Rose Garden. In early June, there is a hot air balloon festival called First Bloom & Glow that is the event of the year for this incredible place.
This incredible garden is located within Glen Miller Park. The upkeep is mostly organized by volunteers who are passionate about their community. Stop by anytime during the day to enjoy this magical place.
