There’s really no better way to enjoy our few scant warm months than with a meal outside. Soak in the sun and the warmth while sipping on drinks and having a great time with friends. Wisconsin has some of the very best outdoor dining options, from rooftops to courtyards, patios to beer gardens. These aren’t just spots that throw a couple of tables on the sidewalk and call it a day. These are outdoor dining destinations. In no particular order, here are 15 of the best places to enjoy an alfresco meal in Wisconsin this summer:
1. Good City Brewing - Milwaukee
Not only do they have an amazing rooftop deck just miles from Lake Michigan that get some of the best breezes, but the whole building opens up with garage doors, letting the air in and making the whole thing feel open and inviting. Located at 2108 N Farwell Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53202.
2. Angelina - Green Bay

5. PJ's Sentry World - Stevens Point
PJ's feels like a taste of the Northwoods, but a little bit closer to home. I love how the height of everything is stretched here, making it feel like the trees are part of the architecture, not just the scenery. Located at 601 Michigan Ave N., Stevens Point, WI 54481.
6. Eno Vino - Madison
These folks also have a downtown Madison location with Capitol Building views year-round, but when it comes to outdoor space, this location cannot be beat. Grab a spritzer or a sangria and relax in the sun for an hour or two. Located at 601 Junction Rd., Madison, WI 53717.
7. Bodegon - Milwaukee
Across the state there's been a trend toward boutique hotels with stellar food and great outdoor spaces and this is no exception. Bodegon is located in Hotel Madrid, 600 S. 6th St., Milwaukee, WI 53204.
8. Pullman's at Trolley Square - Appleton
With space right on the edge of the Fox River and by far the biggest patio area in the Fox Valley, there's pretty much nowhere better than Pullman's for alfresco dining in this area. Located at 619 S Olde Oneida St., Appleton, WI 54915.
9. Hagemeister Park - Green Bay
As you can see, the atmosphere here spills along this part of the river. They have a huge, open patio that they use for everything from a fishing tournament to concerts. It's perfect.
Located at 325 N Washington St., Green Bay, WI 54301.
10. The Outsider - Milwaukee
Located on the top floor of the Kimpton The Journeyman Hotel in the city's Third Ward, there might not be better views anywhere in the state. 12. Vino in the Valley - Maiden Rock
I love this spot because it feels so unexpected. It's welcoming and comfortable while feeling high end. It's like the most elevated farm dinner and you really feel like you're in the middle of nowhere in the best possible way. They also have a make-your-own-s'mores bar that's pretty much the best thing you've ever seen. Located at W3826 450th Ave, Maiden Rock, WI 54750
13. The Charmant - LaCrosse
Located just about a block from Riverside Park and the Mississippi River in a building from 1898 that used to house a candy factory, there are 360 degree views, a wood-fired pizza oven, cozy seating and great drinks, you’ll never want to leave the Rooftop Terrace here.
Located at 101 State St., La Crosse, WI 54601.
14. The Waterfront - Door County
Waterfront is a somewhat seasonal restaurant. They're usually open just through the start of the year and then shut down until the end of April, so there's plenty of months to be able to enjoy this really amazing spot. Located right along the coast of Green Bay, you get some of the very best sunsets in the world on this stunning patio. Waterfront Restaurant Door County is located at 10947 WI-42, Sister Bay, WI 54234.
15. Otto's Beer and Brat Garden - Minoqua
One of my very favorite Northwoods gems, you walk through the dark, beer hall atmosphere inside here to emerge in this stunning beer garden courtyard. It's like the definition of Gemächlichkeit. Located at 509 Oneida St, Minocqua, WI 54548.
