When it comes to Colorado lakes, streams, and basically any other body of water, you can count on them being both clean and clear. While most of them are also a beautiful blue, none of them can compare to this hidden Colorado lake that has some of the bluest water in not only the state, but in the world:
You already know that the San Juan Mountains are one of the most beautiful spots in Colorado, but they are about to get even more gorgeous...
Comprised of upper and lower lakes, the Blue Lakes are stunning not only for their color, but for their surrounding wildflowers, cliffs, and mountains as well.
If you have never seen these magnificent pools of blue before, you are not alone, as the lakes can only be accessed via a nine-mile hike (round trip) through the rough and bumpy San Juans.
But if you're up for the challenge, the Blue Lakes are situated within the Mt. Sneffels Wilderness Area of the Uncompahgre National Forest, and they truly must be seen to be fully appreciated.
