You'll find Rose Island and its historic lighthouse in the East Passage of the Narragansett Bay. It was built in the late 1860s on what was once a bastion of Fort Hamilton.
Rose Island Lighthouse guided the way for ships until the construction of the Newport Bridge when the lighthouse was no longer needed. This historic spot was restored in 1984 and the light was lit once again in 1993.
Access the island only by boat. You can paddle your way out to the 18-acre gem or take the ferry.

There are several darling rooms available. The Curt Bunting Room on 1st floor is a cozy spot for two.
Enjoy the Keeper's Apartment on the 2nd floor that has a queen sized bed and a pull-out couch with plenty of room for a small family.
The living space also has a kitchen for cooking and its own bathroom. Snuggle up by the wood stove during cool evenings.
Stay in the Fort Hamilton Barracks to step back into the past. This building is separate from the lighthouse offering privacy.
The queen sized bed is luxurious, but you'll have to rough it a bit and cook outside when you stay in the barracks.
The 1912 Foghorn Building offers a romantic spot for couples. This room, separate from the lighthouse, has a comfortable queen sized bed.
