Connecticut has plenty of beaches along its shore and we each have our favorite spots to visit during the summer. Yet there is one coastal place that has beautiful sand and gentle waves which make it ideal for the whole family to enjoy. Let’s take a look at Hole In The Wall Beach, a tiny and underrated shoreline spot on the Long Island Sound.
Hole In The Wall Beach is part of McCook's Point Park and you can find its beautiful sandy shore at the end of the Niantic Bay Boardwalk.
Access the beach by walking through a short tunnel under the railroad tracks. This entry point is the source of the beach's name.
Emerge from the tunnel and you will find the boardwalk to your left. Take a minute to enjoy the expansive views of the Long Island Sound.
On your right side you will see a stone jetty and the short length of sand known as Hole In The Wall Beach.
Sandwiched between the point and the jetty, you'll only discover the smallest amount of wave action here. This coastal gem is the perfect spot for small children to frolic safely.
Kids also love the soft sand which is easy on the feet and perfect for creating castles.
This might not be Connecticut's most popular beach, but it sure is a great place for family fun.
Stick around for the sunset, the colors reflected on the water are absolutely breathtaking.
During the summer this is a guarded beach open from 7 a.m. - 8 p.m. daily. Day passes can be purchased at the beach entrance.
Visit Hole In The Wall Beach at 4 Baptist Ln., Niantic, CT 06357.
