We love uncovering unique destinations and things to do around Kentucky that many don’t even realize can be found in our state. A perfect example is that most people don’t think of the Bluegrass State as a place with any beaches, however, we actually offer some great ones (and we previously featured them here). Sure, it’s not the ocean, but that doesn’t mean you can’t sink your toes in a sandy shore in Kentucky. One place where you can do just that is found in an unexpected spot in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky. Carr Creek State Park not only offers a lovely beach and swimming area, but it’s also the longest beach in the Kentucky State Park system and is one you’ll want to check out soon.
Carr Creek State Park is located at 2086 Smithboro Rd., Hwy. 15, Sassafras, KY 41759. For more information, visit the park’s website here.
Carr Creek State Park, its beautiful beach, and everything else it offers is ready and waiting for you to come, visit, and relax. Would you want to play in the sun, sand, and water at the longest beach in Kentucky? Are there any other beaches you enjoy? Let us know in the comments!
And if you want to experience even more of Kentucky’s beaches, check out our beach road trip through the state here.
