The Golden State certainly isn’t lacking in gorgeous drives, but Devil’s Slide is a lovely route that just might be one of the prettiest. Though this California trail may have a pretty bizarre name, it boasts some of the most dazzling views on the West Coast.
Devil’s Slide Trail is a 1.3-mile path that extends along the rocky cliffs edging the Pacific Ocean between Pacifica and Montara. It’s actually converted chunk of Highway 1, and welcomes walkers, runners, cyclists, and even equestrians.
The real draw here, besides the enigmatic name, is the stunning view you can enjoy while exploring this path. Trail users can appreciate the waves and dramatic drops from benches and observation scopes along the way, and interpretive signs are places along the route that describe the history and natural elements of the landscape.

Hikers of all skill levels can easily enjoy this path, which is accessible all year. In the spring, you can expect to encounter lovely patches of wildflowers that photograph beautifully against the turquoise ocean backdrop.

The trail is paved, which makes it a treat for cyclists. There are separate lanes for hikers and bikers so you don’t have to worry about dodging bikes or pedestrians.
