Nothing says “summer” like delicious, refreshing watermelon. Biting into a juicy slice on a hot day is one of life’s simple pleasures. This cool festival in Whately combines delectable watermelon with world-class music. Better yet, it’s not just a one-day event. Nope – this festival spans weeks!
Watermelon Wednesdays is a summer festival series in Whately, Massachusetts. It perfectly combines the sweet taste of watermelon with the irresistible sounds of internationally and locally renowned musical acts. Held at a church built in 1896, you couldn’t ask for a more perfectly picturesque way to spend a summer evening.
Best of all, this isn’t a festival that unfolds over a single day, or even a single weekend. As the name suggests, Watermelon Wednesdays is a summer-long series. That means that weekly or biweekly festival days are planned for the 2018 season.
Guests at the festival can stop by for fresh slices of watermelon at the chapel before enjoying a wide variety of musical acts. The lineup for this year includes everything from a quintet of singers and dangers from Zimbabwe to smooth jazz and acoustic guitar. The shows are family-friendly and normally start around 7:30 p.m. and end a few hours later. Though most of the festival days are Wednesdays, some are planned for other weekdays or even Saturdays. This means that everyone can find a date that works for them.
You do have to purchase tickets for each watermelon festival date, so check out the link at the bottom of the article to reserve your spot. If you have a soft spot for juicy watermelon and great music, this is one event you won’t want to miss.
