There’s nothing quite as mesmerizing as dozens of balloons floating high up in the air over the countryside. You’ll find hot air balloon festivals all over the country, but there’s one that’s truly special. Check out the National Balloon Classic held in Indianola, Iowa.
From July 27th through August 4th, the skies over Memorial Balloon Field in Indianola, Iowa will fill with brightly-colored balloons for the annual National Balloon Classic.
Wake up early so you can see the balloons lift off at Dawn Patrol, which starts at 5:15 a.m. on July 28th and August 4th. On July 29th through August 3rd, catch the Competition Balloon Flight at 6:30 a.m..
Catch nightly concerts every evening. Admission to morning events is free; evening admission (including the concert) is just $5 per person. Bring cash to get in.
