Maine’s Midcoast offers some of the best adventures in the state. From boating to hiking, there’s enough to keep busy for days. It’s also home to one of the best and most easily accessed outdoor opportunities. The many trails in Camden Hills State Park in Maine will take you to a point overlooking the harbor that’s unrivaled in all the hikes we’ve taken. Not looking to build up a sweat? No problem! Half of our group went straight to the top in a car, seeing the view AND finishing the snacks before we’d had a chance to join them. Most people talk about the Mt. Battie trail to the top, but we recommend you skip it in favor of the Mt. Megunticook route. Here’s why!
Camden Hills State Park offers a variety of outdoor activities including hiking, camping, swimming, boating, and picnicking. There are also a variety of winter activities in the colder months. You can learn more about the park (including how to reserve a campsite) on their website. Click here to see a trail map of all the hikes you can do in the park.
For more summer fun, check out the Smalls Falls swimming hole. It’ll cool you off and remind you of the simpler summer days of your childhood.
