Outside of work, you can likely find her curled up on with a hot cup of coffee, practicing yoga, baking, or exploring the beautiful Lone Star State (in particular, the vast and mystical West Texas desert).
Big Bend is one of the least-trafficked national parks in the country. We’re not sure why, given its astonishing beauty, but we can’t say we’re complaining about how remote it’s managed to stay over the years. The mystique of the desert evokes an undeniable feeling, and one of the best ways to experience the enchantment is by dining amidst the mountaintops. You can do exactly that at the Chisos Mountains Lodge Restaurant. Take a look:
Nestled in the basin of the breathtaking Chisos Mountains, the restaurant has a whopping 5400-foot elevation gain. There's no hiking required to feel like you're on top of the world!
Hiding behind a thick layer of scrub brush, the building resembles a summer camp mess hall. You'll definitely be hit with a hearty dose of nostalgia as you approach its doors. Reminisce on cherished memories as you make new ones in a beautiful place with those you love most.
As you can see, the walls are completely transparent so as to provide unadulterated panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Gaze out at the horizon and appreciate the splendor of Texas while enjoying a delicious meal.
You can also opt for outside seating to fully experience what it's like to dine thousands of feet above sea level in one of the country's most remote national parks. If you visit in the summer, we advise doing this only for breakfast or a sunset dinner - the temperature can be quite unbearable around lunchtime.
The dishes are inspired by delicacies here in the Lone Star State, so chances are your favorites are on the menu. Whether you're in the mood for a crispy chicken-fried steak, juicy burger, or perfectly sauced rack of ribs with cornbread, rest assured the chefs will deliver with impeccable technique.
So whether you indulge in the breakfast buffet to fill your belly before hitting the trails, or end the evening by watching the sun make its descent below the mountain peaks (wine glass in hand, of course), the Chisos Mountains Lodge Restaurant brings a whole new meaning to having "dinner with a view."
The restaurant is located at 1 Basin Road Station, Big Bend National Park, TX 79834. You do have to be a guest at the lodge to eat here, but your stay will be worth every penny. There’s truly nowhere else that immerses you in the park quite like the Lodge does. Click here for more information about pricing and booking.
Have you ever eaten at the Chisos Mountains Lodge Restaurant? If so, we would love to hear all about your experience!
