One of the best things about living in Montana is getting to enjoy all four seasons to the fullest. But that also means some of our local eateries and ice cream shops close for the winter, so you’ll want to enjoy them while the weather is warm. Here are 7 spots to put on your radar this summer.
1. The dining hall at 320 Guest Ranch, 205 Buffalo Creek Road, Gallatin Gateway
The 320 Steakhouse and Saloon serves perfectly prepared cowboy cuisine from late May until early fall. It's set to open for the 2018 season on May 25, so enjoy it while you can.
2. Richwine's Burgerville, 50567 US Highway 93, Polson
For nearly 60 years, this family-owned burger hut has kept the Polson community happy and full of burgers and ice cream from March through September. If you visit Flathead Lake in the summer, a stop here is an absolute must.
3. Cafe Madriz, 311 Canyon St., West Yellowstone
From mid-may until late September, Cafe Madriz serves amazing tapas and Mediterranean favorites form their charming little building in West Yellowstone. This eatery gets more popular every year, and it's easy to see why.
4. Belton Grill Dining Room & Tap Room, Belton Chalet, West Glacier
Located in the historic Belton Chalet, the Belton Grill Dining Room offers the most delicious fine dining experience in a relaxed setting. The chef, Melissa Mangold, blends local ingredients to create her culinary masterpieces. But, like the Belton Chalet, the dining room is open seasonally.
5. Burgertown Dairy Freeze, 8595 Hwy 35, Bigfork
Located near Wayfarers State Park, Burgertown has opened every summer since 1970, and there's nothing like treating yourself to a delicious burger, fries and shake combo after a long day spent in the great outdoors. They're open from April-September, which is a pretty long season for a burger stand.
6. The Ice Cream Place, 3196 Mt Highway 83, Seeley Lake
If you've ever been to Seeley Lake's Ice Cream Place, you know they also serve tasty burgers and got dogs to go along with those famous soft serve cones. Their opening and closing dates vary, but they're almost always open by mid-May, and you can count on them to serve you all summer.
7. Last Chance Ranch Wagon Ride Dinners, 2884 Grizzly Gulch Dr., Helena
This is more of an experience than a restaurant, but you'll definitely want to enjoy a wagon ride dinner from Helena's Last Chance Ranch from June-September. Ride on a horse-drawn wagon to Montana’s all green Moose Mountain Cabin, enjoy a gourmet multi-course meal, then listen to live outdoor music featuring Montana local Bruce Anfinson. The experience is $100 per person, and it's well worth it.
You’ll find plenty of tasty seasonal restaurants in Montana, and the best way to discover new ones is by taking an adventurous summer day trip .
