Living in Nebraska is a privilege that we try hard to never take for granted. Living here affords us plenty of benefits that the rest of the country just doesn’t get to enjoy. How many do you recognize?

Remember the Sandhills from #6? Well, they're not great for farming, but they make for perfect ranch land. Nebraskans have been raising beef cattle here since the state's early days, and it's become kind of our trademark.

We really do love our museums here in Nebraska. There's at least one in just about every town, and the subjects they cover run from ancient art to clown dolls to pioneer history and beyond.

UNL brings in students from around the world, making for a diverse and vibrant culture in Lincoln. The city is a unique mix of conservative and progressive that isn't easy to find anywhere else in the country.

Why is this a privilege? Well, if you've ever visited Bailey Yard and the Golden Spike Tower in North Platte, you'll understand how awe-inspiring this place is. It's full of railroad history, and it's just plain cool to watch the trains and cars shuffling around the yard.

The idea of the Runza-type sandwich didn't originate here in Nebraska, but we'd like to think that our iconic fast food restaurant chain perfected it. Plus, have you ever had frings? It's an ingenious combination of fries and onion rings in the same container, and we have to wonder why every fast food place doesn't do it.

Every spring, our state hosts the world's largest gathering of majestic sandhill cranes. More than half a million of these birds fly through here in the midst of their migration, and you can gather in the Kearney vicinity to see them.

We're pretty proud to know that the food produced here goes to feed people all across the US. We're right in the middle of the country and our farmland is rich and fertile, making Nebraska the ideal spot for food production.
