Burlington is a small town about 30 miles due west of Racine that dubs itself Chocolate City. Nestle, USA has had a production facility in this town for 50 years, so in 1987, the idea to create a chocolate festival was born. Now, on Memorial Day weekend in a park dedicated to the purpose, this four day festival of delicious sweetness is the highlight of the early part of summer in Wisconsin.
This huge festival has everything you could ever want from a Wisconsin summer festival to make it a truly amazing and delicious experience. There's a 5K run, eating contests, all kinds of samples, cooking demonstrations, rides, live music and more.
This is basically an excuse to eat all the chocolate you can possibly fathom in the matter of a couple of days, which basically sounds like the best assignment you've ever received.
But if you want to spend all your time in the chocolate tent listening to chefs and professionals and taste delicious things and nerd out on all things chocolate, Chocolatefest is here for you, too.
This festival continues to grow year after year and people return each and every time because it's one of their favorites. It's a great time for the whole family, from the early morning run to the evening fireworks.
Maybe go light on the eating a day or two before to save some extra room so you can stuff yourself full at really the best fest that has ever been invented.
Burlington Chocolatefest takes place May 25-28, 2018. At the door, tickets $8 for adults, $5 for children 5-12 years old and free for children younger than 4 years old. It takes place at Burlington Festival Park, 681 Maryland Avenue, Burlington, WI 53105.
