Take a step back in time at this living history museum and folklife park. The 23-acre site focuses on life from 1765-1890 and includes 19 attractions that’ll give you an idea of what rural life was like in that time period.

Located in the northeastern part of the state, Poverty Point State Historic Site is a series of earthworks that are over 3,000 years old. While historians and archaeologists are still piecing the timeline together, Poverty Point was used as a trading hub, a community, a ceremonial center, and much more. This wildlife preserve in St. Martin Parish will certainly renew your love for Louisiana’s wetlands. The swamplands are home to scores of wildlife including alligators, nutria, egrets, herons, snakes, and many more.
