Outdoor enthusiasts looking for adventure find it in abundance in the Wyoming wilderness. There are over 400 named trails in the Cowboy State, and countless unnamed others hikers love exploring year round. If long, rigorous hikes aren’t your thing, you needn’t feel left out. There are plenty of less lengthy hiking paths all across the state tailor-made just for you. In fact, this trail is quite short, and it’s one of the sweetest, most enjoyable hikes in all the state.
You get a two-fer-one when you visit the Devil's Tower National Monument in Wyoming. Not only is it an incredible natural attraction, but it also has its own short and sweet hiking trail.
There are actually a few trails near the monument, but the one around the base of the massive monolith is barely over 1 mile long, and only takes about 45 minutes to hike.
The prayer bundles are left near Devil's Tower by Native Americans who consider the area to be a sacred spot. Several ceremonies are performed there throughout the year, but they're not typically witnessed by visitors.
From various points along the path, you can look up and catch glimpses of the stalwart tower above through the trees.
