We know about Wichita’s Botanica and Overland Park’s stunning garden scenes, but there are a few more secret gardens in Kansas that you might have missed. Even if the flowers aren’t quite blooming yet, you can still plan a trip ahead of time to make sure you’ve got everything covered for the perfect day out.

1. Dyck Arboretum of the Plains - 177 W Hickory St., Hesston, Kansas
Dyck Arboretum in Hesston is open daily during daylight hours, and their visitor center is open Monday through Friday. This garden is a peaceful place where you can walk through plenty of plants and trees native and adaptable to Kansas. It's a fair bit prettier than my backyard, that's for sure!
2. Ted Ensley Gardens - 3650 SE West Edge Rd., Topeka, Kansas
These wonderful gardens attract hundreds of visitors every year during tulip season. As you can see, they're the perfect photo opportunity, but they come in every color possible, covering plenty of the gardens in rich natural colors. Every year, more than 80,000 tulips and daffodils are planted at this garden, so you don't want to miss out!

3. Bartlett Arboretum - 301 N Line St., Belle Plaine, Kansas
Bartlett Arboretum is a favorite of mine, with plenty of stunning scenes you just won't find anywhere else. Walk over the bridge overlooking the water or enjoy the same paths that were being laid almost 100 years ago. They host live musicians and plenty of fun events throughout the year, so you should definitely make a trip out here every now and then to get the full experience.
Though this is a nursery, the gardens here are arranged beautifully, and feel like a safe haven next to the tall buildings you'll see in the distance. I've never seen pink grass before, have you?
These gorgeous rose gardens in Topeka are another great place to view once things start to bloom. Not only is a walk through these gardens peaceful in itself, but you can also rent the gardens for a wedding if you're looking for something more natural. They showcase 400 varieties of roses and over 6,500 plants, so make sure you're stopping to smell plenty of them.
6. Swan's Water Gardens - 4385 W 247th St., Louisburg, Kansas
This water garden is less about flowers and more about water features in landscapes. If you really like what you see here, you can always have them build one at your home to match!
7. Japanese Friendship Garden - 1045 Massachusetts St., Lawrence, Kansas
This little friendship garden in Lawrence is the perfect solace from city life. It was built to honor the relationship between Lawrence and Hiratsuka, Japan, a city that matches their attitude and way of life. It's not a big place, but when the trees are in bloom, it sure is a beautiful place.
