Do you ever wish you could go back to the so-called good old days? When kids played outside until the street lights came on? Television stations stopped broadcasting at midnight? And, kids had posters of the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and David Cassidy on their walls? Step back to your childhood when you visit this nostalgic guesthouse near Pittsburgh. (Or, discover different eras for the first time.)
Step through the front door at The Good Ol' Days House in Belle Vernon for a journey back in time.
The nostalgic guesthouse, designed and run by Melanie Patterson, opened in 2009. Since then, it's been delighting visitors with its glimpse into the past.
Remember those days when we memorized other people's phone numbers? Relive that simple joy when you use one of the home's rotary phones. (You'll find a rotary phone in each room of the home.)
Time will melt away when you discover the rumpus room. Tucked in the basement, the room boasts such memorabilia as working pinball machines, barber chairs, and a record player.
Don't forget to look outside. Both the front and the back porch feature a vintage glider, perfect for sipping coffee in the morning or watching the sun set in the evening.
Or, just drop by for one of the guesthouse's scheduled events. One recent event, for example, invited the public to the house to make Valentines for veterans.
